SAMARIA. 'Middle Levantine' Series. Circa 375-333 BC. Obol (Silver, 9 mm, 0.53 g, 6 h). Forepart of a lion to right, head facing. Rev. Bearded male head to left; behind, 𐡔𐡌𐡓𐡉𐡍 ('ŝhmryn' in Aramaic). Meshorer & Qedar 83. Sofar 59. Very rare. Very fine.

The obverse of this interesting issue is reminiscent of Cypriot coins, whereas the reverse was copied from contemporary Cilician obols (cf. SNG Levante 220 and SNG Paris 480).
